2024-05-29 community

Students at the University of Twente have rated their study programs highly in the latest National Student Survey, reflecting continued satisfaction and appreciation for the university’s academic offerings.

Consistent High Scores

This year’s National Student Survey (NSE), conducted between January and March 2024, saw students at the University of Twente (UT) once again providing high marks for their study programs. The survey, which encompasses all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the Netherlands, revealed that UT students rated their overall study program with an impressive score of 3.99 on a scale of 1 to 5. This score places UT just below Wageningen University, which is the only full-time university with a slightly higher rating.

Above National Average

The University of Twente has a longstanding reputation for student satisfaction, consistently scoring at or above the national average across multiple themes. These themes include the content and organization of teaching, preparation for a professional career, and study guidance. This year, the university’s highest score was in the study guidance category, with a rating of 4.06, an improvement from last year’s 4.03.

Detailed Insights

In addition to the main survey themes, the University of Twente included specific questions tailored to their students. For instance, the perceived study load scored 3.47 in 2024, up slightly from 3.44 in 2023. Equal treatment was another significant measure, achieving a score of 4.09, compared to 4.07 the previous year.

Net Promoter Score

Another critical metric for the university is the likelihood of students recommending UT to friends and family. This year, the Net Promoter Score (NPS) was 39.5, a slight increase from 39.3 in 2023. The NPS ranges from -100 to +100, with a score of 0 being good and 50 or higher considered excellent. This score reflects the strong ambassadorial role current students play in promoting the university to prospective students.

High Participation and Engagement

Approximately 3,500 UT students participated in the survey, representing 31% of the total student population. This high level of engagement is a testament to the students’ commitment to their studies and their university. Such participation is crucial for the representativeness of the results, ensuring they provide a solid foundation for discussions about educational quality. The NSE results are part of an ongoing evaluation process, involving study associations and program management.

Impact on Future Students

The NSE results are not only beneficial for current students but also serve as a valuable resource for potential study seekers. These results are incorporated into various study finder tools such as the Keuzegids and Elsevier’s Best Studies survey, aiding prospective students in making informed decisions about their education.
