2025 Hydrogen Innovation Award Nominees Announced in Den Bosch

Den Bosch, Thursday, 25 September 2025.
Three nominees for the 2025 Waterstof Innovatie Award have been revealed: Watermeln & Hystream, XINTC, and Hymonic, with innovative hydrogen solutions set to transform sustainable energy.
Innovative Solutions for Hydrogen Storage and Production
The Waterstof Innovatie Award 2025 nominees have unveiled groundbreaking solutions in hydrogen technology. Watermeln & Hystream have introduced the Cube Bundle, a compact, modular, and affordable hydrogen storage solution. The Cube Bundle can hold up to 34.9 kg of hydrogen at 450 bar pressure, significantly outperforming conventional solutions by threefold [1].
Modular Electrolyzers and Ammonia-to-Hydrogen Systems
XINTC has developed a modular and robust electrolyzer system designed to deliver hydrogen at the lowest cost per kilogram over its lifetime, which spans at least 10 years. This technology promises low maintenance costs and high availability, allowing for modular scaling as hydrogen demand grows [1]. Meanwhile, Hymonic, based in Rotterdam, offers a modular ammonia-to-hydrogen plant capable of producing highly pure hydrogen on-site. This innovation reduces transport and storage costs by around 50% and electricity demand by over 99% compared to traditional electrolysis methods [1].
Award Ceremony and Future Implications
The winner of the Waterstof Innovatie Award will be announced on October 7, 2025, during the Dutch Hydrogen Days in Den Bosch. The award includes a communication package worth €5,000, a cash prize of €5,000 from the main sponsor Topsector Energie, personal financial advice, and a TNO Fast Track voucher valued at €5,000. This event underscores the critical role hydrogen technology plays in achieving sustainable energy solutions and combating climate change [1].
