The Participatiefonds Duurzame Economie Noord-Holland (PDENH), operating under ROM InWest since 2024, has been instrumental in advancing sustainable economic growth in North Holland. The fund primarily focuses on early-stage investments in companies tackling societal challenges such as energy transition, circular economy, and sustainable mobility [1].
Strategic Leadership and Investment
Led by Leendert van Waart and Anthony Viellevoije, PDENH emphasizes the importance of bold investments and strategic perseverance. Their leadership model encourages investing in companies that might be overlooked by traditional markets but have significant impact potential. This approach has successfully supported the growth of companies like Fairphone, Sympower, and Dexter, which have expanded from fewer than 20 full-time employees to between 150 and 200, with revenue increasing more than twentyfold [1].
Promoting Innovation through SecFund
In line with its mission, PDENH launched the SecFund to further support innovation in dual-use technology, which can be applied to both civilian and military uses [3].
