Minecraft Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Special LEGO Set for Adults
Minecraft marks its 15th anniversary with a new LEGO set designed for adults. The game, which has sold over 300 million copies, also features a virtual museum for the occasion.
The Crafting Table LEGO Set
Named ‘The Crafting Table,’ the new LEGO set is crafted specifically for adults, reflecting the intricate and detailed nature of the game itself. This set is more of a display piece rather than a play set, built in a half-cube form filled with tiny blocks that add surprising levels of detail. Notably, the set includes microfigures rather than traditional LEGO minifigures, featuring elements such as pigs, various characters, trees, flowers, and houses. The cube can be closed to resemble a Minecraft chest, making it a versatile collector’s item[1].
Diverse Biomes and Historical Nod
The Crafting Table set also offers versatility with 12 different biomes from the Minecraft universe that can be built, allowing for various configurations. This new set is a nod to the first LEGO Minecraft Micro World set, which was initially proposed through LEGO Ideas and became a significant success. While earlier sets were aimed at children, this new set targets adult fans of the game[1].
Virtual Museum and In-Game Celebrations
To further commemorate the milestone, Minecraft has introduced a virtual museum within the game. This museum offers a journey through Minecraft’s history, featuring updates, iconic elements, and trivia. Players can explore the museum in a free map called the ‘15 Year Journey,’ which includes sections named after major updates like Buzzy Bees, Caves and Cliffs, and Aquatic Update. The map allows players to switch between modern Minecraft and its Alpha version, showcasing the game’s evolution over the past 15 years[5].
Special Add-Ons and Discounts
In addition to the virtual museum, the anniversary celebrations include free and paid add-ons to enhance gameplay. The free ‘15-Year Party Supplies’ add-on features confetti, birthday cakes, and party banners, while paid add-ons offer more customization options such as new furniture, farming elements, and security features. These add-ons aim to enrich the player experience, offering both decorative and functional enhancements[3].
Release and Pricing
The Crafting Table LEGO set, consisting of 1,195 pieces, is set to be released on 1 August 2024. It will be available for €89.99. Other sets released to mark the anniversary include The Ender Dragon and End Ship, The Badlands Mineshaft, The Windmill Farm, Wolf Stronghold, Cherry Blossom Garden, and Pirate Ship Voyage, each offering unique pieces and themes that allow fans to recreate their favorite in-game experiences[6].
