Amsterdam, Saturday, 8 November 2025.
The Nederlandse Vereniging Duurzame Energie (NVDE) has unveiled initiatives to promote renewable energy in the Netherlands, aiming to reduce foreign energy reliance and address climate challenges.

Collaboration for Renewable Energy

The Nederlandse Vereniging Duurzame Energie (NVDE) is spearheading efforts to transition the Netherlands towards a more sustainable energy system. By uniting businesses and sector organizations, NVDE aims to establish a comprehensive renewable energy framework. This initiative is particularly crucial given the current context of high energy prices and the urgent need to mitigate climate change. NVDE’s approach involves creating synergies among stakeholders, including energy producers and policymakers, to foster a more resilient and independent energy infrastructure [1].

Innovative Metal Processing: Myne Circular Metals

In a significant move towards a circular economy, Myne Circular Metals, located in Harderwijk, has secured funding from the Nationaal Groenfonds and the Gelderland Climate Fund. The company focuses on processing non-ferrous metals like aluminum and copper scrap through advanced sorting lines developed with TU Delft. This innovation reduces reliance on virgin metals and supports the circular metal industry by using AI technologies to enhance metal separation efficiency [2].

Biobased Construction Materials

NVDE is also supporting sustainable construction through a financial guarantee for farmers cultivating fiber crops for biobased building materials. This initiative, backed by a €2.5 million allocation from the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to incorporate at least 30% biobased materials in new homes by 2030. The project is part of a broader strategy to reduce the construction sector’s significant carbon footprint, which accounts for a substantial portion of global CO2 emissions [3].

Efforts of the New Energy Coalition

In the northern Netherlands, the New Energy Coalition is playing a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy systems. By collaborating with over 120 partners, including companies and governmental bodies, the coalition is fostering innovation in low-carbon energy technologies. Key projects include the integration of renewable sources and modernization of energy grids, aligning with national goals to achieve significant carbon emission reductions by 2030 [4].
