South Netherlands, Tuesday, 13 August 2024.
From August 26 to October 4, companies in Flanders and South Netherlands can apply for CrossRoads subsidies to support innovative projects addressing societal challenges. An informational session on June 21 will guide potential applicants through the eligibility criteria and application process.

Empowering Innovation Across Borders

CrossRoads, a subsidy program aimed at fostering cross-border collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Flanders and South Netherlands, has announced its third call for project proposals. This initiative is designed to stimulate innovative ideas that address pressing societal issues such as sustainable entrepreneurship, renewable energy, Industry 4.0 advancements, and health sector improvements. By providing financial support and facilitating partnerships, CrossRoads seeks to create impactful solutions that transcend regional boundaries.

Application Window and Selection Criteria

The application window for the third subsidy call opens on August 26 and closes on October 4. During this period, eligible companies can submit their innovative project proposals through an online portal. Each project must involve at least one SME from Flanders and one from South Netherlands, emphasizing the program’s commitment to cross-border cooperation. The submitted projects will be evaluated based on predefined criteria, and those that demonstrate the highest potential for societal impact and innovation will receive funding. The subsidy covers 50% of project costs, with a maximum grant of €250,000 per project.

Informational Session Provides Guidance

To assist potential applicants in navigating the application process and understanding the eligibility requirements, CrossRoads hosted an online informational session on June 21. The session featured insights from Yves Ozog of VLAIO and Liesbeth Leurs of InnovationQuarter, who detailed the types of projects eligible for funding and the step-by-step process for submitting a proposal. Additionally, Yves Boonen from Plinius Labs shared his experience with the CrossRoads program, providing practical advice and highlighting the benefits of participating in the initiative.

Strategic Support and Future Outlook

CrossRoads is backed by multiple regional and European entities, including the European Union, Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland, and various provincial governments. This broad support underscores the importance of fostering innovation through cross-border collaboration. As the third call for proposals approaches, companies in Flanders and South Netherlands are encouraged to leverage this opportunity to drive forward their innovative solutions. With a focus on societal impact and sustainable development, CrossRoads continues to play a pivotal role in supporting transformative projects that address the challenges of today and tomorrow.
