Among the standout projects is Lipocoat, a company based in Enschede, which specializes in developing sustainable medical coatings. These coatings aim to prevent infections in medical devices such as contact lenses and implants. The company benefits from both European and provincial funding, which allows them to field-test their products in clinical environments [1].
Agricultural and Environmental Initiatives
A significant portion of the funding has also been directed towards agricultural and environmental projects, aiming to combat pollution and enhance sustainability. Overijssel’s farmers received €299 million in direct payments from the EU between 2021 and 2025, enhancing agricultural practices and sustainability [1].
