Dutch Innovations Take Center Stage at Mobile World Congress 2025

Barcelona, Wednesday, 12 February 2025.
The Netherlands will showcase its digital technology leadership at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, highlighting strategies for digital transformation and international tech collaborations.
Strong Dutch Presence
The Netherlands is preparing a substantial delegation of over 200 members for the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, taking place from March 3-6 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona [1]. The event, which attracted more than 101,000 visitors last year [1], will see Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Dirk Beljaarts officially opening the Netherlands Pavilion, accompanied by Frits Grotenhuis, director of Topsector ICT, and Dutch Ambassador to Spain, Roel Nieuwenkamp [1].
Innovation Showcase
The Dutch presence will demonstrate the country’s leading position in mobile networks and digital innovation [4]. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence, gaming, sustainability, logistics, and the evolution from current networks toward 6G technology [4]. Sixteen innovative Dutch startups will present their solutions at the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event, a parallel program specifically designed for emerging companies [1].
Strategic Focus on Digital Transformation
The Netherlands’ participation follows a strategic kick-off event held on February 6, 2025, at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Hague [1][4]. During this preparation meeting, discussions centered on the National Technology Strategy and two crucial action agendas: AI and Data, and Cybersecurity Technologies [1]. According to Jos de Groot, Deputy Director of Economics and Digitization, ‘Digitalization is one of the most important transitions at the moment… promoting digital innovation is at the top of the minister’s agenda’ [4].
Demonstrating Dutch Tech Leadership
Dutch companies like EW2Health will showcase cutting-edge innovations, including AI-powered solutions for healthcare [5]. Mark Beermann from Ecosystem Services emphasizes the Netherlands’ position, stating that ‘The Netherlands has one of the best mobile networks in the world’ [4]. This technological excellence is further demonstrated through the participation of various Dutch entities in strategic discussions about future connectivity, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure development [3].
