Southern Netherlands, Wednesday, 28 August 2024.
CrossRoads announces its third round of subsidies for companies in Southern Netherlands and Flanders, supporting cross-border innovation. Applications open from August 26 to October 4, 2024, with up to €250,000 available per project. An informational session is scheduled for June 21.

Focus on Societal Challenges

The CrossRoads initiative aims to address pressing societal challenges through this subsidy program, encouraging companies in Southern Netherlands and Flanders to propose innovative solutions. By fostering cross-border collaboration, the program hopes to leverage the strengths of both regions, driving forward product and process innovations in sustainability, healthcare, and Industry 4.0.

Application Process and Criteria

Between August 26 and October 4, companies can submit their subsidy applications through the CrossRoads e-portal. Each project must involve at least one small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) from Flanders and one from Southern Netherlands. Projects will be evaluated based on predefined criteria, and the most promising ones will receive funding. The subsidy covers up to 50% of project costs, with a maximum of €250,000 per project.

Support and Guidance

To assist potential applicants, CrossRoads organized an online information session on June 21. During this session, representatives from VLAIO and InnovationQuarter provided detailed guidance on the application process, eligibility criteria, and the types of projects that qualify for funding. Additionally, Yves Boonen from Plinius Labs shared insights from their successful CrossRoads project, offering practical advice on navigating the application journey.

Broader Impact and Future Prospects

Beyond the immediate financial support, CrossRoads aims to build lasting partnerships between Flemish and Southern Netherlandish companies. The program is backed by several regional and European organizations, illustrating a broad commitment to fostering innovation and addressing societal needs. As these collaborations mature, they are expected to contribute significantly to regional development and economic growth.
