Enschede, Monday, 21 October 2024.
The University of Twente is offering approximately 50 scholarships worth up to €22,000 for non-EU/EEA students pursuing master’s degrees. This initiative aims to attract top international talent and enhance the university’s global standing.

A Strategic Move for International Diversity

Situated in the Netherlands, the University of Twente has embarked on a strategic initiative to bolster its international diversity and global academic reputation. By offering the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) for the 2025 academic year, the institution seeks to attract exceptional non-EU/EEA students to its master’s programs. These scholarships are a part of the university’s broader efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive academic environment, supporting students from various cultural and educational backgrounds.

Scholarship Details and Eligibility

With applications open since 15 October 2024, the UTS offers around 50 scholarships, each valued between €3,000 and €22,000, designed to cover study-related expenses for one year. Notably, students who meet specific academic criteria during their first year may qualify for a second-year scholarship[1][2]. Eligible candidates must have a conditional admission letter for a master’s program starting in September 2025 and meet English language requirements, including an Academic IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent TOEFL iBT score of 90[3].

Kipaji Scholarship Fund: Aiding Developing Nations

In tandem with the UTS, the Kipaji Scholarship Fund is also available, specifically targeting talented students from developing countries in South America, Africa, and Asia. Worth up to €12,000, the Kipaji scholarship supports students who also receive a UTS scholarship, fostering increased scientific knowledge and entrepreneurial skills that students can apply back in their home countries. The Kipaji initiative aligns with the University of Twente’s mission to contribute to global development and innovation[2].

The Application Process and Deadlines

Prospective students must submit their UTS applications by 1 February 2025 to be considered for the September 2025 intake. Successful applicants will be notified within eight weeks after submission. It’s crucial for candidates to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria, as those not admitted in Round 1 cannot reapply in Round 2[4]. This rigorous selection process underscores the university’s commitment to selecting the most promising international students.
