Rotterdam Startups Eye Global Growth at Qatar Web Summit
Rotterdam, Friday, 13 December 2024.
Rotterdam startups aim to expand internationally at the Web Summit in Qatar, showcasing Dutch innovation and connecting with global investors from February 22-26, 2025.
Strategic Dutch Presence at Major Tech Event
The Netherlands is set to make a strong impact at Web Summit Qatar 2025, with Rotterdam startups leading the charge at one of the largest tech gatherings in the region. The event, which attracted over 1,000 startups and 15,000 visitors from 81 countries in its previous edition [1], will be hosted at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) [1]. Dutch startups will showcase their innovations at the dedicated NL Pavilion, organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and Dutch Embassy in Doha [1].
Focus on Innovation Sectors
The Dutch delegation is targeting participation from startups specializing in cutting-edge sectors including A.I., HealthTech, Sportstech, Climate Tech, Energy Tech, Agritech, and Logistics and Smart Cities [1]. This aligns with the Netherlands’ strong position in the European tech ecosystem, as the country ranks as the second leading tech startup ecosystem in Europe and 13th globally [3].
Rotterdam’s Growing Startup Ecosystem
Rotterdam’s startup scene has been gaining momentum, with organizations like Up!Rotterdam, established in 2019, playing a crucial role in enhancing access to talent, markets, and capital for startups and scale-ups [3]. Success stories from the region include Relive, which has grown to 13 million users [3], demonstrating the potential for Dutch startups to scale globally.
Practical Details and Registration
The participation fee for the event is set at €500 (excluding VAT) per company for two participants [1]. The registration deadline is December 13, 2024, with the event running from February 22 to February 26, 2025 [1]. As emphasized by Jalal Dahham, Economic advisor at the Dutch embassy in Doha, startups interested in participating in the NL Pavilion are encouraged to register through the Dutch embassy in Doha [1].
