Twenty-nine young women from the EU, Western Balkans, and Ukraine participated in a summer bootcamp focused on female leadership in technology. The program aims to cultivate the next generation of female leaders in the digital space, addressing the gender gap in the tech sector.

A Transformative Experience in Warsaw

Held in Warsaw, the Summer School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age, organized by Huawei, brought together a diverse group of participants. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the significant gender imbalance in the tech industry. Over the course of the bootcamp, the young women engaged in a series of workshops and panels covering various topics, from artificial intelligence (AI) and ethics to public speaking and entrepreneurship.

Inspiring Journeys: Cassandra and Mylana

Among the participants were Cassandra from Spain and Mylana from Ukraine. These young women embraced the opportunity to learn from expert mentors drawn from business, politics, and education. Cassandra, with her background in computer science, and Mylana, who is passionate about cybersecurity, found the bootcamp to be a pivotal moment in their careers. The intensive week of learning not only equipped them with technical skills but also instilled a sense of purpose and leadership.

Key Figures and Perspectives

Huawei’s Berta Herrero Estalayo emphasized the importance of having more women in decision-making roles within the tech sector. Meanwhile, Sabina Ciofu from techUK highlighted that diversity in tech is not just about gender but also about different backgrounds and perspectives. She pointed out that women from fields like philosophy and law could bring valuable insights to the industry, advocating for a more inclusive approach to tech education and career paths.

Celebrating Achievements and Looking Forward

The bootcamp culminated in a gala and awards ceremony, where the participants’ hard work and dedication were celebrated. Cassandra was honored with the title of Presence and Purpose Queen, while Mylana received the top accolade of Future Leader. These awards are a testament to their potential to influence the tech landscape positively. The event underscored the importance of creating more opportunities for women in tech and the need to continue supporting initiatives that empower young female leaders.
